The museum has two of the most affective Mercedes for the five-fold world champion, Juan Manuel Fangio.
First we see the coupe 300 SL that Mercedes gave to Fangio for his achievements in the sports field. This famous car featured a version called “Gullwing” (seagull wings), as its doors opened to the sky, having its hinges on the roof.
Fangio was an advisor to Mercedes Benz.
His bond with the German giant was worthy of two titans, each in its own business. “Excellence from the wheel and behind the wheel”.
Even today, many Mercedes plants have huge gigantic images reminiscent of their former 1950s driver.
With this silver car, Fangio and his great teammate Stirling Moss were performing in endurance races such as the 24 hour Le Mans.
This exotic racing car had a moving piece on the body located behind the pilot.
It operated as an aerodynamic brake as it was lifted mechanically when the brakes were operated.
