This Alfa Romeo sports car tries to regain the competitive spirit of the Italian classics of yesteryear. In the 1940s the renowned engineer Vittorio Jano prepared 8-cylinder engines to succeed in the competitions.
That is why the Alfa, both production and competition, received the designation 8C when they had one of those high-performance engines. To the name was added the word “Competizione”, also present in the Alfa “6C 2500” coupe of 1950, which drivers Fangio and Zanardi drove in the Mille Miglia of that year.
The Concept Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was designed and developed at the Alfa Romeo Style Center. It is a two-seater sports coupe built mainly in carbon fiber. The elaborate aesthetic is really excellent, since it combines very harmoniously smooth curves with defined and sporty lines. There are even emblematic elements characteristic of the Italian brand, such as the inverted triangle in the front grid.
The huge 20-inch wheels and front lights look like vehicles competing in GT categories in long term races. Another feature of style to highlight is the back section. The meeting between the cabin, its window and the trunk is truly exquisite. It has a grace and dynamism unusual even in modern sports.
The car ends with a short rear overhang but nothing static. The sporty character lies in the two red circular lights and the four exhaust outlets.
The engine that drives this Italian design work is located at the front. It is a super loaded V8 of 4,200 cm3 engine capacity that generates 400 hp at 7,000 rpm. This Alfa Romeo concept car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 300 km/h.
