Renault chose the Paris Motor Show as the setting for its new generation of Twingo, a compact car that was furor all over the world. The new Renault Twingo will be launched in March 2007 with some differences from this prototype.
The aesthetics of the Renault Twingo Concept is designed to attract young buyers who like sports-looking vehicles and who want a vehicle that conveys a youthful message. It is for this premise also that the new Twingo will incorporate the new communication technologies so required by young users.
Inside the Twingo we find a central console with chargers for USB ports for devices such as iPod and Nokia Smartphone. It also has an on-board computer that accesses the internet and allows the installation of a webcam and a microphone for the Bluetooth connection.
The on-board computer includes functions such as personal agendas. And continuing this voracious youthful need to listen to music all the time, each car seat (the four seats are independent) has individual outputs for audio players.
The interior lighting is also very particular, as it combines different colors of ambient light depending on whether the car is in circulation or stopped.
The small Twingo is 3,600 mm long but makes good use of each mm inside to provide good habitability. It has a good width of 1,700 mm although it wastes some of that width on aesthetic details like the huge fenders. The 1,400 mm height also makes Twingo's interior comfort.
From the outside, attention is drawn to the short but overloaded front and the oversized and rough handrails. They have embodied sports car traits in a small urban car, which, although attracts young buyers, looks a little “meaningless”. Another excess is the use of two huge chrome exhaust outlets on the rear.
The renovated Twingo features a turbocharged 4-cylinder in-line engine. This small engine of just 1,200 cm3 of engine capacity develops a power of 100 hp, more than enough for a compact urban vehicle.
Of course, to sell without problems will have to spare horsepower, since often the consumer public decides their purchase for details like this, regardless of whether or not this action is senseless. Manufacturers are also responsible for the lack of sensible criteria in the buyer.
Continuing the technical aspect, the Twingo features generously sized four-wheel disc brakes.
The 8 wide ray sports wheels complete the sporting image of this reissue of a car that knew how to be a bestseller around the world.
