Volkswagen presented in Mexico the new Bora 2008, a car that is marketed in that country under the name Volkswagen Jetta. The renovated Bora presents aesthetic changes on the outside, both in front and behind, although it maintains its same petrol and diesel engines. This car offers new additions as comfort elements inside.
The new features of the Volkswagen Bora 2008, which are distinguished at first glance, are its front optics, the grille (which can be chrome-plated depending on the version) and the rear optics. Basically there are no more modifications to the rest of the body.
The interior was also redesigned, maintaining the same criterion applied to the exterior: subtle changes to renew its image. Part of the redesign work can be seen in the ventilation grilles that imitate aluminium and in the center console.
Pro the most interesting inside are comfort details, such as steering wheel height and depth adjustment, instrument panel lights, fuel tank opening system and central door locking.
Other features of the new VW Bora 2008 include its on-board computer (available for the automatic box version), audio equipment with CD and MP3 files, auxiliary input for players, USB port and electric dimming system for rear-view mirrors.
As expected, this model is actually an aesthetic update without profound changes, which will come in a future generation of the Bora. This is why the car does not alter mechanical details of any kind, either in the engine or in the chassis.
The two engines available for the 2008 Bora remain the same four cylinders of the previous model: a 2,000 cm3 cylinder capacity and 115 hp (naphtha powered) and a diesel of 1,900 cm3 and 100 hp power. The standard transmission is 5-speed manual. Although the most equipped versions will feature a six-speed Tiptronic automatic box.
In terms of safety features and equipment, the new Bora 2008 maintains the four-wheel disc brake system (ventilated front) complemented by ABS technology and fuel cutting system in case of an accident.
The number of airbags available varies depending on the equipment version. Other features adopted are the electronic immobilizer, the sound and visual alarm plus the automatic closing of windows.
It remains only to mention that the new Volkswagen Bora will be available first for the Mexican market from July 2007. There will be three versions of equipment called Europe, Trendline and TDi.
