This 1937 Chevrolet was restored in the 1990s. The restoration lasted just over 6 years. It began in 1994 and culminated in mid-2000.
The project began when its owner purchased a Corvette ZR-1 V8 engine from early 1993. He finally bought the remains of Corvette himself, using as many components that were adaptable. Old man Chevy received top quality material.
The original V8 of the Corvette has a small aluminum block and 5,736 cm3 displacement, 4 valves per cylinder (DOHC) and multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection. As standard, this engine delivered 405 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and a torque of more than 380 pounds foot at 4,800 rpm.
Now, with the work done on the V8, your driver enjoys 500 HP at 6,100 rpm and over 430 lbs foot of torque. The power reaches the wheels through the ZF 6-speed gearbox, the same that accompanied the aforementioned V8 on the 1993 Corvette.
The suspensions were also adopted from the Corvette. At the front, the control arms are uneven length (upper and lower) with adjustable range dampers.
The rear suspension is also independent, with adjustable anti-roll bar. As far as the brakes are concerned, the Corvette brakes were not used, but the Bosch ABS II anti-lock system was incorporated. BF Goodrich high performance tires fit.
