The Maserati GranTurismo was presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2007. With the typical features of the brand such as the large hood and smooth and harmonious lines designed by Pininfarina, this coupe 2 + 2 incorporates a great engine and all the Italian sporting tradition.

With this sports car Maserati rescues an old glory from its distant past, when in the 1940s it presented the Gran Turismo A6. Having once again the exquisiteness of the design of the house Pininfarina, Maserati combines in this coupe all the design features of its sports with excellent performance plus the luxury and comfort expected by the customers of this exclusive company.

The Maserati GranTurismo replaces the previous coupe “3200 GT” designed by Giugiaro and introduced in 1998. With aesthetic features that link them, the new model designed by Pininfarina best combines elegance with the indomitable spirit of Italian thoroughbred sports.

The link between Pininfarina and Maserati began in 2003 when they developed the Quattroporte sedan and later the colorful Maserati Birdcage 75th Concept .

Specifications of Maserati GranTurismo

While the exterior design of the Maserati is worthy of recognition, it is of vital importance in this automobile segment that mechanics accompany the image. The GranTurismo features a 4.244 cm3 V8 engine that delivers a power of 405 hp at 7,100 rpm.

With a maximum torque of 460 Nm at 4,750 rpm, the V8 has the ability to drive the GranTurismo from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, travel the quarter mile in 13.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 285 km/h.

This performance is really optimal, especially if you take into account the 1,800 kilograms of car weight and the fact of using an automatic gearbox. The weight distribution was meritorially balanced, with 49% on the front and 51% on the back.

Apart from the features in common with the Quattroporte, GranTurismo also shares its platform. Some style details were also obtained from the Maserati Birdcage 75 concept. The dimensions reveal their relationship with the Quattroporte. The Maserati GranTurismo measures 4.881 mm long, 1.847 mm wide and 1.353 mm high.

The wheelbase of 2,942 mm is very long, making it a benefit for interior habitability, especially for the occupants of the rear seats. It also provides smooth walking, complemented by the large rim diameter reaching 19 inches, with a 20 inches diameter available as an optional.
