The Detroit Ballroom was always part of the great history of motorsport. He now ratifies it with the following facts. In 1966, the Detroit Motor Show was the protagonist of the birth of an Italian legend. In that year, the Lamborghini Miura appeared, as a response from Lamborghini to the ill treatment received by Enzo Ferrari. Lamborghini was a tractor manufacturer and after having the opportunity to drive a Ferrari, he contacted Enzo to discuss possible improvements for his car. But the bad temper of the old Ferrari did not accept the comments and tried Lamborghini rough.

So in revenge, and to prove that he was able to conceive a good machine, Lamborghini built the first Miura, designed by Marcello Gandini. The car was an absolute success. At the time it was one of the fastest cars on the planet. That supercar had a 4,000 cm3 V12 engine that developed 370 hp to allow it to accelerate to 300 km/h of maximum speed.

But not only the performance led Miura to stardom. Soft and delicate lines live in the memory of fans of motorsport. Special details, such as the headlights and the curtained rear window, were fine touches that showed delicacy on the part of the designer's wrist.

After 40 years, the Italian company (belonging to the Volkswagen group) presented the Miura Concept, a prototype commemorating the 40th anniversary of the original model. The unencouraging fact is that, for now, there are no real production plans. Lamborghini currently sells its Gallardo and Murcielago models. And this company never marketed more than 3 models simultaneously.

The prototype Miura Concept maintains the traits of its ancestor. Although more sincere it would be to say that it repeats the details in a very uncreative way, since more than a redesign it is a retry... Responsible for this prototype without innovation is the current manager of the Lamborghini design area, Walter de Silva. Representatives of Lamborghini stated that the design objective was to strip the original Miura of certain antiquated details to give it a more modern and attractive look. Basically, the same development process that received the Ford GT.

Benefits

This concept car incorporates the same Bat impeller. It is a V12 of 6,200 cm3 engine capacity that develops a maximum power of 580 hp. The prototype features a six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive (permanent).
