Volkswagen presented the Tiguan Concept at the Los Angeles Motor Show in the USA at the end of 2006. This small SUV will be a definitive model for 2007. The goal is to complement the options of Volkswagen in this market segment where the large SUV VW Touareg is already well positioned.
The Tiguan Concept exhibited at the Los Angeles Motor Show features a turbodiesel engine called Clean TDI and equipped with BLUETECtechnology. This driver was developed to reduce environmental impact and comply with the strictest environmental regulations.
The Clean TDI engine is the result of the joint development between Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes-Benz. The determining factor for reducing emissions lies in a catalytic converter that reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by 90 percent compared to a traditional diesel engine.
One interesting fact is that the Volkswagen Tiguan 2007 will use the same platform as the new Golf. The Tiguan Concept is based on an earlier prototype of the brand: the VW Concept A. Thus the German company reduced development times to ensure that the European market receives this new product by the end of 2007.
From the outside there is a marked family air on the lines, especially on the front, where the grille surrounded by chrome edges and the optics resemble those of the Vento and Passat models. The rear otics are also similar to those of the Suran, Vento and Passat models.
The rising waist line is another feature common to the current models of the German brand. Perhaps the most remarkable element of the Tiguan Concept is the transparent ceiling 134 cm long by 84 cm wide. This detail allows you to have a very bright interior and generates in the passenger a feeling of breadth impossible to achieve in a closed vehicle. It would be very good if this ceiling was used in the definitive model.
The Tiguan Concept is small in size, with a length of approximately 4,400 mm, 1850 mm wide and 1,690 mm high. That's why the huge 19-inch tires stand out quickly. These tires fit tires specially developed by Continental. Even the tire has painted bas-relief areas in the color of the Tiguan body.
Inside the Tiguan Concept, a design aimed at a young audience is perceived, where the combination of silver console details and doors with black materials in tone with the body form a modern and eye-catching atmosphere.
The leather upholstered seats add a touch of elegance to the overall sport concept. The rear row of seats is moved longitudinally to be rebutted and thus allow the load capacity to be increased.
