Toyota's achievements in 2007 only confirm its status as a world leader in the automotive industry. The positioning achieved worldwide is not surprising, given that in the last ten years Toyota has taken firm steps and every bet made was won.
Toyota has become the top seller of vehicles in the world surpassing General Motors. Toyota's strategic decisions and its outstanding ability to penetrate different markets, developing consistent maneuvers, have borne fruit and consolidate the Japanese manufacturer.
Key maneuvers were the inauguration of the factory in Brazil and the positioning in the US where they even won the public of sports motorsport participating very successfully in the local categories.
Currently, Toyota participates with great success in American sports motorsport, in categories such as NASCAR and Indy Racing League. It is known that the market of this country is influenced by sports results. And the superior quality of Toyota products make the Japanese brand have had the best-selling sedan in the US in 10 of the last 11 years.
The first quarter of 2007 resulted in 2.34 million vehicles sold by Toyota, while General Motors and its countless terminals sold 2.26 million. The highlight is the excellent positioning that Toyota consolidates every day in Europe and the United States.
The other news that completes the panorama is Toyota's announcement of its investments in Research and Development. The decision to allocate €6.2 billion (12.36% more than the previous year) makes it a leader in R & D investment worldwide.
These values far outweigh the competition, as development-focused terminals such as Honda and Nissan invest only 50 percent of what Toyota will spend in 2007.
The main objective of such investment is to advance the development of new hybrid technologies and the search for alternative fuels.
