After the speed records sought by the Italians of Bugatti and the Swedes of Koenigsegg, USA wants rematch. Koenigsegg is a Swedish manufacturer of super cars. Always try to beat the achievements of how much rival exists in the market. He is currently at the top of the list with his CCRmodel, which reached 388 km/h that earned him the world speed record for a car currently in production. USA will give battle hand in hand with the SSC company.
The first SSC model, the Aero SC/8T, was released in the United States on August 12, 2004 in Monterey, California. This model reached a maximum speed of 386 km/h, obtained thanks to a V8 engine at 90º 6,200 cm3 entirely made of aluminum. Equipped with supercharger, it reached a power of 908 hp @ 6.600 rpm.
The new Ultimate Aero was introduced in August 2005 in Monterey, California. It was specially created to pass the 250 mile-per-hour barrier (402 km/h), and thus be the new “fastest production car in the world”. The brand-new Aero was improved in the aerodynamic and mechanical aspect. As far as aerodynamics is concerned, it achieves higher downforce at higher speeds, giving the benefit greater stability and ability to take high-speed curves.
The engine was slightly modified for better performance. This is a V8 at 90º 6.200 cm3 aluminum. Equipped with supercharger, it develops more than 1,050 HP and an amazing torque of over 800 pounds foot. The transmission is still manual 6-speed transmission. The total weight of the car dropped to 1,180 kg. It is one of the lightest and most powerful sports cars in the world. The power weight ratio is close to 1:1, which is one of the ideals of any race car.
They are expected to try to achieve the world speed record by the end of 2005, but there are still tests to be performed at Ultimate Aero.
