2005 The Koenigsegg CCR reached 395 km/h which earned it the world speed record for a car currently in production. The test is valid only if performed with a standard car manufactured in series like this specimen.
Koenigsegg is a Swedish manufacturer of super cars. Always try to beat the achievements of how much rival exists in the market. And now he made it. Prior to this record, the McLaren F1 had a top speed of 372 km/h, placing it at the top of the list.
But McLaren's wasn't the only record buried. The Ferrari Enzo, with 355 km/h, was the leader of the current production models, followed by the 334 km/h of the Porsche GTand the Mercedes SLR.
The record of 388 km/h was obtained with a CCR powered by a 4.700 cm3 biturbo V8 that reaches 806 hp.
At the time of reaching maximum speed, the Koenigsegg CCR's turn counter charged 6,790 revolutions per minute. Since the track in a circle, the pilot wore the steering wheel rotated about 30 degrees constantly.
Loris Bicocchi was the official Koenigsegg driver who drove the CCR on the 12.5 km diameter circular track in Nardo, Italy.
Christian von Koenigsegg is the owner of the Swedish company with only ten years of history. He expressed his willingness to manage for himself one of his CCRs soon.
For the next time, von Koenigsegg will drive on a straight track to beat a new record. It should be noted that all previous records were recorded on straight tracks. So the Koenigsegg CCR can still give another surprise...
