In 1994, DickGuldstrand and Steve Winter built the Grand Sport 90. It is based on the platform of the Corvette ZR-1 and uses a modified version of its aluminum V8. Few were made but attracts many fans.
Grand Sport Automobiles owner, DickGuldstrand, started with his company in the 1960s. At that time I was preparing special Corvettes called Grand Sport. Only five were manufactured between 1962 and 1963, all to compete in high performance international races. Guldstrand participated in the Second World War in Europe. There he was in close contact with the European sportsmen of the 40s. His influence was always reflected in his cars. Especially inside the Grand Sport 90.
The Grand Sport 90 uses the Corvette ZR-1 platform and also its aluminum V8 engine. Steve Winter, designer and builder, embodied in the self-traits of the European sports classics of yesteryear. Of course, combining them with the contemporary design of American cars. The construction is very sophisticated, featuring ultralight compounds and alloys, which, although common in sports today, were not so much so in the 1990s. Its low weight is 1,406 kg.
The excellent maneuverability and 480 HP delivered by the V8 make it comparable to any other high-performance sports car. The engine of 5.700 cm3 has 4 valves per cylinder (DOHC), multi-point electronic injection and transmission of power to the rear wheels via a manual 6-speed transmission. The 485 HP and 405 lb foot torque at 5000 RPM allow you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds. It reaches a top speed of 322 km/h and brakes from 100 km/h to 0 in 36 meters.
The interior stands out for leather upholstery and a Bose CD player. Its equipment also has air conditioning, armchairs, windows and mirrors controlled electronically.
