Mosler MT900 R was the first name this car received when it began participating in international competitions in 2001. His debut was auspicious, getting pole position in his Grand-Am category in the 24 Hours of Daytona.
The Mosler MT900 GTR is a very interesting sportsman for its duality: it is as practical as any street sports car and has the ability to enter a race circuit at the level of the best GT cars. Its street version available in the US and Europe is called Mosler MT900 S.
There is a lot of merit in Mosler's design criteria. With carbon fiber monocoque structure combined with aluminum honeycomb ensures high structural rigidity and a remarkable impact safety margin while maintaining a very low weight.
In turn, the chassis has two chromium molybdenum steel substructures. The first and smallest of these structures is located in the front sector. It houses the front suspension assembly plus the steering system.
The second substructure is somewhat more complex. It is located in the center of the car behind the passenger compartment. The rear suspensions, the engine and the corresponding transmission are mounted on this second substructure.
Another outstanding feature is the built-in diagnostic software. This software developed by General Motors allows modifications to all tuning parameters of the car, such as adjustment of suspensions, shock absorbers, roller bars, etc.
Mosler is manufactured in the USA, although racing models such as GT3 are completed by Breckland Technology Ltd in England. There are some components that differ from the standard car, such as the brake system.
The sports history of the Mosler begins in 2001. In his first appearance in the 24 Hours of Daytona he obtained pole position in his category. While leaving the race in its initial phase, the team demonstrated the potential of the Mosler MT900 R.
In 2002 he again captured the pole at Daytona, achieved a Grand Am win in Miami and reached a worthy second place in the overall standings in the 24 Hours of Bathurst.
In 2003 the Mosler obtained its first consecration. He again won the pole position for the GTS (Grand-Am) category in the 24 Hours of Daytona, this time crowned with a strong victory. Two more Mosler MT900 R arrived in third and fourth locations.
That same year the Mosler managed to win the British GT Championship, winning the most important race on the calendar: the 1000 Kilometers of Spa.
In 2004 the Mosler was the champion car of the competitive Spanish GT Championship, facing rivals like Porsche and Ferrari, who have historically dominated all kinds of competitions.
For 2005, successes continued, with victories in Brands Hatch and Silverstone 24 Hours. These victories allowed the Mosler brand to place second in the British GT Championship.
