The Acura car brand, a division belonging to Honda Motor Company, introduced the Acura Advanced Coupe Conceptin 2007. This concept car attempts to define the design bases for a future replacement for the currently discontinued Acura NSX.

Unlike its predecessor, the so-called new Acura NSX would have a much larger engine located in the front, rather than centrally like the previous sport. Honda President Takeo Fukui announced that the future NSX will be equipped with a V10 engine that will be the most powerful driver in the history of the brand. However, no technical specifications of the Acura Advanced Coupe Concept were revealed.

Another surprise, in terms of technology, is the use of the Acura “Super Handling All-Wheel Drive” (SH-AWD) system. This traction system allows the car to be driven with rear-wheel drive, but if the driving requirements require it, traction is also activated on the front wheels, providing the optimum maneuverability that all-wheel drive cars always grant.

The Acura Advanced Coupe Concept has a total length of 4,610 mm and a wheelbase of 2,763 mm. The exterior design was carried out by the Acura team of designers based in California, USA.

The head of design, John Ikeda, explained that a criterion was embodied in this sports car where the main premise was to communicate that it is a car with a great technological load, without neglecting the traits of all pure blood plus the emotions transmitted by being handled.

Ikeda completed by saying that the duality between transmitted emotions and technical evolution live in the combination of body lines, where curved surfaces meet others more flat and finished at sharp angles.

The wheels were specially designed for this concept car with the same criteria recently described. The rays combine flat and curved surfaces with chrome and opaque surface finishes. The type/size of tyres in the front is 195/65 R 20.

Finally, executives of the firm Acura announced that while they are very excited to have the NSX back on the market, it will take longer than desired. Apparently, this sports car will be waiting before it enters the scene.
