The development of the car and its technology was very thorough. From the beginning, emphasis was placed on total weight reduction and moderate fuel consumption. This made the process somewhat slow. Honda engineers innovated in everything, including the creation of new aluminum alloys that they would use throughout the car. The NSX has aluminum motor with titanium cranks and aluminum body, which give it low weight characteristics and high structural rigidity.
The engine of the Honda NSX is the result of very rational development. With the adoption of the variable valve regulation system (VTEC) and well-managed high power, the NSX enables the driver to be docile urban handling. Of course, when it comes to accelerating, the NSX responds as nimbly as any supercar: it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and exceeds 260 km/h.
The design process of the Honda NSX was in the hands of Japanese designers, although the final design was responsible for Fioravanti, designer of the Italian studio Pininfarina.
In 1990, Honda opened a plant with 320 employees dedicated exclusively to manufacturing this sports car. The sales success was resounding. The American market was a faithful buyer of this excellent product for several years.
