September 2006
+ Reinvent Peugeot's “Walk of Your Life” style + Discover a full-size version of the car at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.
For the fourth edition of this competition, which since its initial launch in 2000 has already generated nearly 9,000 innovative projects, Peugeot asks Internet users around the world to reinterpret the car as a source of authentic pleasure. Six letters summarize the philosophy of this fourth invitation to the creativity of designers who surf the Internet: P.L.E.A.S.E.!
The contest was called PLEASE innovate! (in Spanish, Please innovate!). This pun uses each letter of the word please as one of the design premises.
Start with a blank sheet of paper and imagine a new type of car: Leasurable P: Pleasant (for driving) Lively: Animated Andfficient: Efficient Accessible: Accessible SImple: Simple Andecological: Ecological
The winning project will be manufactured to real scale and exhibited at the Peugeot booth at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2007. In addition, the winning designer will receive a check of 6,000 euros.
Questions asked to Frédéric Renard, responsible for the Concept Cars projected at the Peugeot Product Department.
The number of participants is equally impressive, with more than 6,300 having participated; some are even from people who have participated in many competitions. This fourth edition of the Peugeot Car Design Contest will perish to be the best of all, and I am sure it will lead to many great projects for the dream car of the future.
How would you describe the theme of this new edition of the Peugeot Design Contest? This theme is right at a crossroads of paths: the true and the virtual. First of all, the project must be true in the sense of functional features that act in the true world. The virtual aspect is related to the fact that the project will have a fun side. We want this topic to focus designers around the world on a key aspect of motorsport, driving pleasure. The pursuit of driving pleasure is one of the main interests of Peugeot, which has even made this its flagship.
What rewards are offered in this fourth edition of the Peugeot Design Contest? The best reward for any car designer is to see their project produced in real scale: see the manufactured car. As has been the case in previous competitions, the model of the winning project of this fourth edition of the Peugeot Design Competition will be presented at the Peugeot booth at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2007.
We offer even more to this year's winner. The winner will also receive a check for 6,000 euros and will see their mass production project in miniature form.
Concept Cars, like production vehicles, are a striking illustration of the importance Peugeot attaches to aesthetics. Finding inspiration in a particularly rich heritage, the creativity of designers at the Peugeot Style Center has led to a new interpretation of “the Peugeot style” in each of its contemporary manifestations. This is the issue for example with the 908 RC and 207, which illustrate that the style can be really special without remaining totally inaccessible.
This value of styling, rooted in the history of the brand, led to the largest design studio in the automotive world: the Peugeot Car Design Contest on the Internet. Organized since 2000, the three previous competitions have inspired thousands of amateur designers to develop thousands of projects. Only three designers have seen their dream car brought to real life in the form of a full-scale model and presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
