Peugeot will surprise in September 2006 at the Paris Motor Show, where it will present this particularly unique prototype. The Peugeot 908 RC is a limousine sedan with two main features: its exterior design and engine.
The exterior design is somewhat ambiguous, it is as bold in some details as it is rough in other details. Of course this is not objectionable at all, since it is well known that this type of concept cars aims to search for ideas and criteria.
Only a few features of a concept may reach a production vehicle.
The front, for example, shows beacons of exotically sharp lines combined with excessively large air intakes. An imposing centre decorates the trunk with a huge emblem of the French brand. Below is a spoiler similar to those of racing vehicles, which, while neatly integrated into the body, cuts abruptly with the supposed elegance of a limousine vehicle.
An interesting aspect is the extension of the windshield to the middle of the roof, allowing greater luminosity for passengers in the passenger compartment. It is important in such vehicles with such small side windows, especially in height.
The proportions of the car are unusual for what is supposed to be a limousine sedan. This Peugeot 908 RC has a particularity that explains why these proportions: it has a huge engine located in the center position. This is why the 908 has a very short hood, a long compartment and a very long rear section.
The rear sector of the 908 RC consists of a carbon fibre structure to accommodate the V12. The overall look of the rear overhang is defined by four outstanding exhaust outlets and the very stylized red lights, characteristic lines of Peugeot.
Inside everything is sporty cut, including the four independent seats. The passenger compartment is more sporty than futuristic.
The Peugeot 908 RC prototype features a 5,500 cm3 HDi V12 engine. This centrally located V12 provides 700 hp of power, allowing the 908 Rc to exceed 300 km/h.
The Peugeot impeller achieves a striking maximum torque of 122.44 kgm.
The transmission of such power is carried out through a six-speed manual gearbox with option to use sequentially.
