BMW released the first images of its new Series 3, one of the most successful models in sales throughout the history of the German house. Information on technological innovations, motorization options and final performance of each version was also disclosed.
The new BMW 3 Series remains true to tradition. It is clearly BMW's most conservative design product, this is the feature that characterizes it and maintained it as a sales leader in its market segment for the past 7 years. But being conservative in exterior design does not take away magic, as its sports performance and built-in technology make it one of the most interesting cars offered by BMW.
The design of the new BMW 3 Series is excellently balanced, perhaps the most complete design of the brand. From a classic BMW style like the short front overhang, medium rear and rear-facing cab, the new Series 3 has a silhouette as elegant as it is sporty. With a very conservative aspect, it achieves a perfect balance between the aerodynamic requirements of a car traveling at 250 km/h and the necessary comforts for four passengers plus their luggage.
The front of the car is defined by smooth and emblematic lines of the manufacturer. The sides keep the classic silhouette on the windows and a harmonious fall into a generous trunk. The coupe version incorporates less metal elements in its construction, achieving a few kilos of weight.
On board the coupe version, the comfort for the occupants remains with nothing to envy the four-door sedan. It is equipped with airbags and the car automatically recognizes if someone sits on the front seats. This is suitable for the operation of the airbags in the event of an accident. But the same detection system also ensures that the seat belt approaches the occupant, driven by an articulated arm.
BMW will, in principle, market two versions of its brand new 3 Coupe Series. The first is the 325i SE, which features 218 hp of power and 250 Nm of torque under the hood. This 2,500 cm3 engine capacity allows it to reach a top speed of 246 km/h.
The second version of the coupe Serie 3 is called 335i SE and is very special. It has a two-turbo 6-cylinder engine of 3.000 cm3 displacement. This version introduces technological innovations in its direct fuel injection system. But buyers are impressed with the 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque produced by the twin-turbo engine, which also accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and achieves a top speed (electronically self-limited) of 250 km/h.
BMW announced that by the end of the year the Series 3 will have more options available. You can opt for the coupe, the 4-door sedan and a convertible version. There will also be more engines, one of sporty performance, while the others will focus on low fuel consumption without sacrificing sports performance. Even diesel versions achieve excellent performance.
