Renault officially introduced the third generation of Laguna, one of its most successful cars in the last decade. The marketing of the Renault Laguna III will begin at the end of 2007 in Europe, will have various levels of equipment and will be able to choose six engines. Their prices have not yet been announced.
The Renault Laguna III will be available at the end of 2007 on the European market in its two body versions: five doors and Grand Tour (family version). The most obvious changes lie in the headlights and rear lights, keeping the overall silhouette and design criteria of the previous model very similar.
The new five-door body is longer, measuring 4,690 mm (ninety millimeters more than the previous generation. Particular emphasis was placed on maintaining a good level of interior comfort for the rear and front seats.
Product quality is one of the factors that is increasingly demonstrating the quality of automotive manufacturing processes. In this case, Renault took the work of manufacturing 120 units of the new Laguna to evaluate the quality of these processes, which will eventually impact the result of the car. These 120 Renault Laguna III were tested on a 6 million kilometer route under various climatic conditions.
As the main difference between the previous Laguna gait and this new model, there is an increase in the stiffness of the suspensions to improve stability in curves and increase the precision of the steering wheel.
Addressing the safety issue, Renault continues to strive to provide greater safety in the case of side impacts. To this end, the new Laguna has side airbags for the front seats connected to two sensors located on the doors and the central pillar. These sensors allow you to determine the exact moment at which airbags should be inflated. In addition, the Laguna III includes a double protective chest and pelvis airbag.
Under the hood the buyer will be able to choose six alternatives, including 2 nafteros engines and 4 diesel engines. The naphthous engine will have a capacity of 2.000 cm3, being a version normally sucked with a power of 145 hp, while the second version equips a turbocharger and develops a power of 170 hp.
For those who choose diesel engines, you will find a first option of 1,500 cm3 displacement and 110 hp plus three options for the 2,000 cm3 engine, available with power ranges ranging from 130 hp to 150 hp.
The equipment on board is very complete, highlighting as a valuable fact that the air conditioner was equipped with a new and better compressor of high capacity, capable of cooling the passenger compartment in less amount of time. Other interesting aspects are its automatic parking brake system, a new technology applied to the card type key and electric handbrake.
Outside, the equipment to be highlighted goes through the xenon headlights, the turn lights already incorporated in the rear-view mirrors (for the first time in a Renault car) plus the alloy wheels, which depending on each version can have a diameter between 16, 17 or 18 inches.
As a final comment, it remains to emphasize that Renault focused on developing Laguna III with such a high quality standard that allows it to position this product among the top three in its segment by product quality and after-sales service quality.
