This new concept car, which Audi will present at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show, is a first sketch of what would be the replacement of the super successful Audi TT. The Shooting Brake concept is distinguished by a less innovative design and distinct from the TT. It is larger and would be equipped with a 3.200 cm3 V6 engine that reaches 250 hp of power.
Audi introduced the concept Shooting Brake, which will undoubtedly serve as the main attraction of the German brand's Stand at the next edition of the Tokyo Show 2005. The concept car has an Audi standard engine: the 3.200 cm3 V6 engine delivering 250 hp power and a torque of 32.3 kgm at almost 3,000 rpm. Power reaches the ground through a six-speed manual transmission. According to the calculations of Audi engineers, the Shooting Brake would reach a self-limiting top speed of 250 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds.
Although the body and exterior design in general associate this car with a Audi A3, the reality is that Audi is looking to position it as a possible replacement for the TT. The design of the TT is still quite contemporary and always pleases, but commercially sold out its market and Audi needs the change. But this delay was probably due to the immediate need to put the Audi Q7 SUVon the market. Recall that Audi had not yet designed an SUV.
The TT had two small rear seats almost uninhabitable, while the Shooting Brake incorporates some more outdoor space to improve this point. But with enlargement all aspects of the car benefit. The trunk has 255 litres of load capacity, which is tripled when rear seats are rebatted.
Inside the leather seats combine with chrome elements and very sporty style, being conservative as well. The equipment includes a new MMI satellite navigator system. Its touch screen monitor allows you to write the desired destination on the screen itself, just like you type on a Palm. This display has the ability to warn the driver about the degree of rotation of the curves.
As you would expect in Germany, Audi is experiencing a number of technical innovations in this vehicle, such as the active damping system Audi magnetic ride, the satellite navigation system mentioned above and its type-recognition touch screen display. Also the lighting system presents new features, incorporating LED technology.
