Lincoln defines its next generation of vehicles from the new MKS, a high-end sedan with a revamped design and a complete level of equipment. This vehicle will compete in the US market segment of luxury sedans, along with Cadillac, Infiniti and Lexus.
The Lincoln MKS is a large sedan, luxurious elements and sporty performance. Its design advances the next generations of cars of the traditional American brand. The lines are characterized by the combination of smooth curved lines with well-marked edges, as in the waist line.
Thus, Lincoln maintains in his cars the sober and elegant character but at the same time more modern, without neglecting its traditional features such as the front grill and the proportions between volumes. The design really shows a good advance, albeit quite moderate. Again, his old rival stands out with more striking lines in the Cadillac CTS.
The design guideline of the new Lincoln MKS is to create a vehicle of great luxury and comfort but not oriented to ostentation, but to captivate the customer with the elements offered. According to CEO Peter Horbury, “Americans begin to prefer refined over ostentatious. And this Lincoln MKS does not need to scream, but rather captivates with a whisper.”
Even the handling of proportions is so correct that the huge 20-inch diameter rims do not look so big. Combining the criteria that sports cars use 5-ray tires and luxury cars with many rays, the MKS adapts a 10-ray design that combines two 5-ray schemes. Nothing stands out from the set. The design is very balanced finished.
The same design philosophy remains in the interior. It has many comfort elements such as heated seats with multiple position settings, LED ambient lights, state-of-the-art satellite navigator, Bluetooth connectivity and DVD with surround audio system.
The most aesthetically interesting is the panoramic glass ceiling called VistaOf. Natural lighting in such a cabin creates a greater sense of space and warmth. All this from oversized leather seats.
As for the sport performance of the Lincoln MKS, it remains only to indicate that it has an aluminum V8 engine of 4,400 cm3 of displacement and a power of 315 hp. The transmission features an automatic 6-speed gearbox and active all-wheel drive, which increases or reduces torque depending on the performance parameters of each wheel to prevent it from skidding.
Lincoln's been careful about security, too. The Lincoln MKS has a mobile lighting system for road curves with two light sources in batch. The main light beam is halogen, while the second is emitted by LEDs as a complement to the first.
Inside the passenger compartment, the MKS has dual front airbag, side airbag and curtain airbag that are actuated in the event of a rollover. The steering column adapts to the physical structure of the driver and the doors have specially designed reinforcements to contain side impacts.
