The exterior design is closely related to BMW products, although the proportions are atypical. For a 4.227 mm long (not so small) car, the interior is not as spacious as you would expect. This is because the front of the car is too large compared to the rest. The elongated hood represents space lost in interior comfort, although from the construction part it is justified.
The 2.660 mm wheelbase complements the already explained dimensional loss and allows an accessible interior, although there is no space. The measurements are completed with 1,751 mm wide and 1,430 mm high, highlighting that this last dimension favors entry into the vehicle.
The BMW 1 Series is presented with 6 engines to choose from, four nafteros and two diesel engines. Among the nafteros there are three four-cylinder (16 valves) being two 1.596 cm3 (115 and 129 hp) and one 1.995 cm3 (150 hp). The most powerful engine is a 6-cylinder in-line 2,996 cm3 that reaches 265 hp.
Meanwhile, both diesel versions have four cylinders: one with 1.995 cm3 and 90 hp being the second with the same engine capacity but with a power of 120 hp. All models are fitted to a six-speed gearbox and have rear-wheel drive. Depending on each version, the total weight of the car ranges from 1,320 to 1,450 kilograms.
The BMW 1 Series wheel features 16-inch diameter rims on 195/55 R16 87H RSC tires. In the case of the Series 1 equipped with the 6-cylinder engine, the tires provided have a diameter of 17 inches with the corresponding increase in tire size.
The high level of equipment includes active steering, aluminium front axle, multi-arm rear suspension and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).
Finally, it is noteworthy that BMW considered that most consumers of this vehicle have in their profile the desire to have a good audio system, so the car was equipped with a BMW hi-fi system.
This system has subwoofers located under the front seats that provide the basis for good sound. The Hi-Fi system improves sound with ten speakers. In turn, the HiFi Professional system features premium speakers and surround sound. This device allows you to connect devices such as MP3 players and others, apart from the CD changer and MD player that completes the system.
