Honda Fit with CVT transmission

Latin America received the renewed Honda Fit in its markets, especially in countries such as Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela. And it's a very positive thing, as this compact car from the Japanese firm features high-end technology. Its distinctive and laudable feature is the CVT gearbox, a fantastic technology fully developed by Honda for nearly two decades of pure research and development.

The Honda Fit is a compact car for 5 passengers, located with a good level of comfort, considering that it is a small vehicle that is just 3.8 m long by 1.67 wide. Its interior is very versatile, since the rear seats can be rebutted leaving a load space of 1.7 m long, while if the front passenger seat is cut, an object up to 2.4 m long (e.g. tubes or a surfboard) can be loaded.

Of the Honda Fit we can say that he is a prophet in his land, as in Japan it was the best-selling car. With a very efficient engine of 2 spark plugs per cylinder, the low consumption makes it ideal as an urban car. The Fit has several active and passive safety elements.

But the most important technological detail lies in the optional CVT gearbox. The CVT system means that the transmission does not have gears to shift between, but is continuously variable. Its almost tapered rollers (so to call them) permanently engage with each other with a high degree of friction. Honda engineers developed a new alloy, foundry furnaces and even a particularly suitable lubricant.

This development of so many years was experienced for the first time when Honda was a supplier of Williams engines in Formula 1. But trials with that technology were banned by the obtuse minds that govern the FIA.
