BMW exhibits its latest concept car at the Shanghai Motor Show: the BMW Concept CS. This prototype of the German brand would try to position BMW in the incipient market segment of the sedan sport, also called 4-door coupes, a rather controversial designation.
BMW has already made available high-resolution images of the Concept CS, its prototype that combines high quality Sedan and Gran Turismo car. The BMW Concept CS was presented at the 2007 Shanghai Motor Show. In turn, this design exercise advances the future lines and features that we will find in the other BMW cars.
The design managers of the BMW Concept CS say that the public will be surprised by the excellent combination of luxury and sporty look, adding that this brand has never done before. Sports facilities and interior comfort thanks to great equipment will place you in a great position on the market.
More precisely, the market segment that BMW points to is the recent niche where cars are designated as “4-door coupes” or “sports sedan”. The most important cars already present in this market are the Mercedes Benz CLS and the Maserati Quattroporte , while the arrival of the Porsche Panamera models is incipient. and Aston Martin Rapide .
Returning to the description of the BMW Concept CS, this concept adopts the 7 Series platform, although its level of equipment would be higher. This motivates suspicions that this concept could be the new BMW 8 Series, although there are no confirmations yet.
According to the explanations of the chief designer Adrian van Hooydonk, the design premise of the Concept CS was to design a sports car without resinating elegance, large dimensions but not looking like a mazacote. He also added that this concept is “a step ahead of today's gaze.”
Finally, the BMW Concept CS dimensions are 5.100 mm long, 1.980 mm wide and 1.360 mm high, while the wheelbase reaches 3.050 mm.
The engine that will equip the new BMW will be a 6,000 cm3 V12 based on the V10 currently used in the BMW M5. It was also commented that they could prepare an M version, that is, a specially configured version for maximum performance from the impeller.
