Renault presented the Concept Car Altica as a sports country that combines fluid lines, smooth curved shapes and sharp edges without giving up any comfort, since it has a large interior space plus a marked emphasis on practicality for the user.
As is customary in this French brand faithful to its innovative spirit, Renault designed the Altica concept with avant-garde criteria. Those responsible for its design explained that this new concept car provides “a dynamic vision of rural areas of the future, combining practicality, sportiness and comfort on board in the same vehicle”.
The exterior appearance of the Renault Altica is deliberately striking. From its panoramic windshield to its unusual rear window, it defines lines that combine aerodynamic efficiency with pure aesthetics. The structure of the vehicle, composed of strokes launched, expresses its authentic sporty dynamics.
The interior design successfully continues with the same criteria that govern the exterior of the car. And to be able to combine the design of each aspect without barriers, the transparent roof plus the panoramic windshield remove the boundaries between the interior and the exterior, obtaining as a complementary benefit a bright interior.
Accessing the interior comfortably through doors with “gull wings” type opening, the user finds comfort and generous space. Even the arrangement of the seats inside the vehicle ensures good rear visibility, which is indispensable when parking.
Clearly, the Renault Altica stands out for combining factors that are rarely found in a sports car: avant-garde design, high level of comfort and interior habitability more practicality. The generous interior volume provides the possibility of having not only elements that make comfort, but also the physical comfort necessary to enjoy those elements.
The much-mentioned “practicality” of the Altica is evidenced in its countless storage spaces, such as its glove compartment, armrests storage compartments and even a tray located on the back floor.
The message conveyed by the concept Altica is more complex than that of a simple rural sport. Its sporty style is accompanied by its performance that ensures emotions, although always within a pleasant and smooth handling. The sensations of power and control are correctly merged.
Despite presenting unusual volumes for a sports car, the dimensions are common to those of any vehicle in this category, with a total length of 4,270 m and a width of 1,830 mm. These dimensions combined with a low center of gravity allow the Renault Altica to offer ideal performance.
The Altica is equipped with a new 2.0 dCi diesel engine with particulate filter. This 4-cylinder impeller delivers a maximum power of 177 hp and allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.5 sec.
This propeller, together with a 6-speed gearbox, provides fast reactions and remarkable acceleration. And as a meritorious fact it is worth noting that this does not lie in a large consumption. This engine developed by Renault-Nissan has very low consumption levels. And this feature is worth an interesting positioning in its category.
