Design of the Audi A5

Audi A5
The Audi A5 was officially unveiled at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. This is a brand new four-seater coupe. A sports version called S5 will also be offered. Audi announced that it will be marketed from June 2007 and will subsequently present a convertible A5 model.

The design of the body of the Audi A5 continues with all the same characteristics as the other products of the brand. This mid-size coupe between the A4 and A6 range measures 4.630 mm long, taking advantage of the interior space to reasonably accommodate four adult passengers, preferably not very high... The most direct rival of the A5 on the market will be the Mercedes-Benz CLK.

The lines neatly synthesize the combination of elegance and category with the sport spirit that is always present in the models of the brand of the four rings. Although rather sober in the details, perhaps it is the size and type of tires that show the most that sports lineage.

Technical specifications of the Audi A5

The range of engines available for the launch of the A5 shall comprise naphtha and diesel versions. The first naphtha powered impeller is a 3.200 cm3 V6 with FSI direct injection and a power of 265 hp. The V6 can be attached to a six-speed manual gearbox or an automatic drive (configurable to eight fixed ratios).

The maximum torque of this V6 engine reaches 330 Nm, very high for its displacement and remarkable for the constancy achieved between 3,000 and 5,000 Nm. Another fact about the V6 is the addition of the Valvelift variable distribution system. This V6 drives the Audi A5 from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and its top speed reaches 250 km/h.

The other naphtha-powered engine, called TFSi, is four-cylinder in-line with turbo and direct injection. It has a capacity of 1,800 cm3 and a power of 170 hp.

The two diesel engines are V6 turbo TDi of 2.700 and 3.000 cm3 displacement, with powers of 190 hp and 240 hp respectively. The most powerful version has the ability to accelerate the A5 from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and take it to a maximum self-limiting speed of 250 km/h. Both engines support the Multitronic automatic gearbox.

The versions equipped with four-cylinder naphtha engine and the most modest diesel engine use front-wheel drive. The other versions of the A5 have all-wheel drive. The Audi all-wheel drive system for cars with longitudinal front engine is permanent with asymmetrical engine power distribution.

Interior equipment of the Audi A5

The interior of the Audi A5 is rather petty considering the exterior size of the car. The space in the front squares is quite comfortable, although very tall people will have their difficulties. Everything is complicated when accessing the rear squares, for which the access maneuver is tedious and the legroom is very small.

The point in favor may be the trunk, which has a generous load capacity of 455 litres. Folding the rear backs extends its capacity. The aesthetic design of the interior is very pleasant, combining as in the exterior luxury with the sporty touch. The equipment is very complete, closer to the A6 than the A4.

The equipment highlights elements such as electric handbrake, three-zone climate control, panoramic roof and a BANG & Olufsen audio equipment.

Sport version: Audi S5

After the introduction of the A5, Audi will present the sports version called S5. The car then radically changes its profile. It will be equipped with a V8 engine with direct injection that delivers a power of 354 hp plus a maximum torque of 440 Nm. While the maximum speed remains 250 kilometers per hour because it is self-limiting, acceleration from 0 to 100 improves to 5.1 seconds.

According to Audi technicians, the V8 impeller will be linked to a very short and highly accurate six-speed gearbox. The traction will remain integral with variable torque distribution. As standard, the traction will be distributed 40% to the front wheels and 60% to the rear wheels.
