February 2006 Updated information at https://auto.idoneos.com/novedades/peugeot_4007
The images are illustrative but not real, as there is still no official prototype. The first Peugeot 4x4 SUV could look like this, based on the latest designs of the French brand. The images, made by computer digital editing, illustrate what could be the 4007 SUV, with obvious similarity to the 207, 307, 407 and 1007 models, basically with all the latest generation Peugeot.
Peugeot is part of the PSA business consortium, together with Citroën. PSA signed an agreement in 2005 with the Asian company Mitsubishi, with the aim of jointly developing off-road vehicles. This results in another guess: Citroën would also manufacture its 4x4 SUV, as Peugeot and Citroën always have equivalent models. The development would be based on the current Mitsubishi Outlander, which is now in its second degree of evolution.
Another rumored fact is the possibility that both models were manufactured directly in Japan. Most likely, the exterior characteristics, dimensions and general appearance are directly related to the parameters of the Mitsubishi Outlander. An approximate length of 4,600 mm and a possible version, back, equipped with 7 seats.
As far as thrusters are concerned, the 4007 SUV would have a 2,400 cm3 petrol engine with 170 hp power, which Mitsubishi would manufacture.
A diesel version will surely be presented for Peugeot and Citroën models, based on 2.000 cm3 HDi engines of 136 hp power. Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Outlander will maintain its current 140 hp 2.0 TDi, provided by the German firm Volkswagen.
